🍅 Braised Beef in Tomato Sauce

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 800g beef chuck or stew meat, cut into large chunks
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 400g canned crushed tomatoes (or 3 fresh tomatoes, grated)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups beef broth or water
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Optional: rosemary sprigs for extra aroma

🔥 Preparation Method:

1. Sear the Beef

  • Heat olive oil in a heavy pot or Dutch oven.
  • Add beef chunks and brown them on all sides. Remove and set aside.

2. Sauté the Vegetables

  • In the same pot, add onions, carrots, and garlic.
  • Cook until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.

3. Build the Sauce

  • Stir in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Return the beef to the pot and pour in the broth.

4. Slow Cook

  • Cover and simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours, until beef is tender and sauce is thick.
  • Stir occasionally and adjust seasoning if needed.

5. Serve & Garnish

  • Spoon into bowls, garnish with fresh parsley and rosemary.
  • Serve with crusty bread, mashed potatoes, or rice.
