🍖 Southern Meatloaf with Brown Gravy
Instructions
1. Make the Meatloaf
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, chili sauce, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 8×4-inch pan.
- Bake for 1 hour or until internal temp reaches 160°F (71°C). Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
2. Prepare the Gravy
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms (if using) and sauté until soft.
- Stir in flour and cook 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth. Simmer until thickened, about 5–7 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper.
3. Serve
- Slice meatloaf and spoon warm gravy over the top.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans, or cornbread.
