Layer the ingredients
In a large Dutch oven or slow cooker, add oil and sauté onions until golden.
Add garlic, beef chunks, soaked beans, barley, and potatoes.
Nestle the whole eggs (uncooked, in shell) into the mixture.
Season and cover
Sprinkle paprika, salt, and pepper over everything.
Pour in the broth until ingredients are just covered.
Slow cook
Cover tightly and cook on low heat for 12–18 hours.
If using an oven, bake at 200°F (95°C) overnight.
If using a slow cooker, set to low and let it go until morning.
Serve
Peel the eggs and serve alongside the stew.
Spoon out generous portions of meat, beans, potatoes, and barley.
