🧆 Ingredients
- 250g ground beef
- 250g ground pork
- 4 slices Portuguese chouriço (finely chopped)
- 5 garlic cloves (3 for meatballs, 2 for sauce)
- 1 egg yolk
- 50ml Port wine
- Nutmeg, oregano, salt, pepper (to taste)
- Breadcrumbs (for coating)
- 50ml olive oil
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- Water (enough to cover meatballs)
👨🍳 Instructions
- Prep the meat: Mix ground beef and pork with chopped chouriço, garlic, egg yolk, Port wine, and seasonings. Let it marinate for 2 hours.
- Form meatballs: Shape into balls and coat with breadcrumbs.
- Cook the sauce: Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until golden.
- Simmer: Add meatballs and enough water to cover. Boil, then simmer covered until the sauce thickens.
- Serve: Best enjoyed with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
