🥩 Ingredients
For the steak patties:
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
For the onion gravy:
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
🍳 Instructions
- Make the Patties:
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Shape into 4 oval patties.
- Cook the Patties:
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Brown patties for 4–5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Onion Gravy:
- In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions until golden and soft.
- Sprinkle flour over onions and stir for 1–2 minutes.
- Slowly add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
- Combine and Simmer:
- Return patties to the skillet. Spoon gravy over them.
- Cover and simmer for 10–15 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve:
- Plate with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
