- 1 lb smoked kielbasa sausage, sliced
- 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional, for a nutty flavor)
- ½ tsp seasoned salt
- ¼ cup water (for deglazing)
🔥 Instructions
- Brown the Sausage:
- Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add butter and sliced sausage. Sauté for about 5 minutes until browned.
- Sauté the Onion:
- Add sliced onion to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes until softened.
- Cook the Cabbage:
- Add chopped cabbage, caraway seeds, and seasoned salt.
- Stir well and cook for 2 minutes to wilt the cabbage slightly.
- Deglaze and Finish:
- Add ¼ cup water and scrape the bottom of the pan to release flavorful bits.
- Continue cooking for 6–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.
- Serve:
- Serve hot, straight from the skillet. Optional: pair with buttered rye bread or roasted potatoes.
