For the Sandwich:
4 slices of white bread (thick-cut)

2 thin beef steaks

2 slices of ham

2 fresh sausages (or linguiça), grilled or pan-fried

4 slices of cheese (like Gouda or Emmental)

2 fried eggs (optional, for topping)

Butter for toasting

For the Sauce:
1 tbsp olive oil

1 small onion, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 bay leaf

1 tbsp tomato paste

1 cup tomato sauce

1 cup beer

¼ cup white wine or port wine

1 tsp mustard

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp piri-piri sauce or chili flakes

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tsp cornstarch (mixed with a little water to thicken)
