🥧 Steak and Ale Pie
A hearty British classic with tender beef and rich ale gravy
📋 Ingredients:
- 500g diced beef chuck
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp flour
- 300ml dark ale
- 200ml beef stock
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 egg (for brushing)
🍳 Method:
- Brown beef in a pan, then remove.
- Sauté onion and garlic, add flour, then pour in ale and stock.
- Return beef, add Worcestershire sauce, and simmer for 1 hour.
- Transfer filling to a pie dish, cover with puff pastry, and brush with egg.
- Bake at 200°C (390°F) for 25–30 minutes until golden.
